JSR OUT

And thus ends my thrilling adventure into the exciting world of Sales! And also my current lengthy run with ICONZ. I tendered my resignation today, it was accepted, and they’re walking me on friday. I thought they’d walk me today, but NAY.

So, now I need to get my shit together and find a new gig. And NOT a sales gig. Fortunately the NZ economy is humming right now, and we’re in the middle of a shortage of experienced tech workers. So there’s ample scope for goodies.

Once again, I’m more interested in a cool job then a suck one, even if the suck one pays more!

  1. Dude don’t you remember Office Space, there’s less chance of an incident if they do it on a Friday, also what does walking mean?

Also I can’t help thinking there is less explanation here than there should be, like um why you are quitting and not just going back to your old job and also why you are quitting?

    1. “Walking”, means that instead of one working out one’s notice period (in this case, four weeks) they just pay you out for the four weeks and you leave straight away. In extreme cases they have security “walk” with you back to your desk, wait while you pack up your stuff and then walk again with you to the door to ensure you leave. Nothing so drastic in my case, but they don’t want a disgruntled soon to be ex-employee in a customer-facing role, because .. well, for obvious reasons.

Can’t go back to my old job because when I left it, they restructured to fill the role that I left. That role is now full. 🙂

And as for why .. It wouldn’t be professional to say in detail or in public. Let’s just say that Sales is not for me, and leave it at that.

It’s good that you did it instead of languished in dissatisfaction 😛

    Goodluck with the job hun!

    1. That’s a tough question. I’m not even sure. I did enjoy technical sales support a lot, so I have that on the mind. Having said that, however, something more purely technical is also not out of the question. I’ll see what my recruitment d00dz come up with. 🙂

  3. Personally I think I would have preferred the RAGEQUIT – because, well, you know how great sales are and perhaps a RAGEQUIT would have let THEM know how great they are . . . Also I consider you safe enough to friend now that you are free of ICONZ clutches, so *friends*

      1. Oh! There was no hate, but I make it a point not to friend people at work, because it a) made lead to trouble and b) I can’t freely bitch without it becoming gossip and *points at point a*. Rob’s kinda the exception but you know, dating him, so go figure.

        🙂
