It became necessary to destroy the village in order to save it.

From thehill.com today (on the subject of the ongoing hostilities in Iraq):

“Honestly, it’s a little tougher than I thought it was going to be,” [US Senator Trent] Lott said. In a sign of frustration, he offered an unorthodox military solution: “If we have to, we just mow the whole place down, see what happens. You’re dealing with insane suicide bombers who are killing our people, and we need to be very aggressive in taking them out.”

What. The. Fuck?

Oh yeah. Insane suicide bombers killing your people. Your people who just invaded their country, killed their friends and family members, destroyed their infrastructure and literally plunged them back into the stone age.

And now, perhaps, they’ll be “mowed down”. I’m sure God …sorry, Allah… will know his own.

Splendid.

Oh, wait. It gets better:

“Republicans fear they could suffer in the polls if the situation does not improve, since the administration’s Iraq policy is so closely associated with Bush.”

Oh yeah. That’s the thing to be concerned about. Re-election. Not FUCKING KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE or anything. Them eye-racks can’t vote, now, can they?

My personal economic views tend very much to the right, and I am embarassed to be even ASSOCIATED with these evil motherfuckers.
